Paint Selection

The final new trick will help you that green stripe effect without too much hassle. The hardest part is following the steps in order, which is weird and not intuitive, but you will get it with practice:

  1. Select a new Fill Color
  2. Use the Selection Tool to select the old fill
  3. Select the Brush Tool
  4. Modify the Mode to Paint Selection
  5. Paint! You can be as sloppy as you want, because only the SELECTED FILL will pick up the color in the end:

When you get to the drop shadow, you can select non-adjacent fills by holding down the shift key while you click with the Selection Tool. That's it! Be proud!
