The Magic Wand Tool
Begin with something very simple, like desecrating the flag of Albania:
The flag is very cool the way it is, but we want to isolate the black crest from the red background. It may be tempting to grab an eraser tool and spend twenty minutes dragging the mouse around, but don't do it.
- With the file open in Fireworks...
- Click the Magic Wand Tool
- Adjust the Tolerance Level
- Click the red background
In the above example, the tolerance is set to 13, and the marching ants haven't quite gotten all the red selected. Click the delete button on the keyboard and be disappointed:
